Only Two More Sleeps Until Halloween!
As Halloween approaches the children are getting more and more excited about getting dressed up and going trick or treating. This morning we began with O'Canada and a moment of silent reflection. Then Mr. Playford challenged the different grades with grammatical questions. The kindergartners answered questions about the day of the week and the month that we are currently in.
Reed lead us through calendar today until Leon arrived to be our daily leader. After calendar we had a math sorting lesson using fun Halloween decorations and objects. Mrs. Whitworth dumped a bin of these objects on the floor and asked the children about the different ways we could sort the items into piles. The children each got a turn sorting the objects different ways. Charlotte and Leon presented their show and share today; Charlotte showed us some canvases she had painted and Leon showed us an airplane toy that he brought from home.
After snack and recess we had a Halloween story, "Franklin's Halloween." After this, the Jk's worked in their "My Book of Orange" work books and the Sk's worked in their journals drawing pictures of things that are orange and then writing the name of each object.
After lunch and recess we read another book about a square pumpkin named Spookly and made pumpkin lanterns with spooky Jack O'lantern faces. After last recess, the grade 1 and 2's joined us in our classroom, and the kindergartners put on a show for the Grade 1 and 2's, as they danced to our Halloween song. The day ended with a loud and fun time of centre time spent with the grade 1 and 2's.
Have a good Evening!
