Happy Wednesday!
This morning started with O' Canada and a moment of reflection. Today's leader was Charlotte; who lead us through calendar and our discussion about what happens in October.
Following calendar Mrs. Whitworth quizzed the students on their numbers from 0-30 using flash cards. The children are coming along in their number recognition. The Jk's worked on their numeracy books on pages 0, 4 and 5. The Sk's had their first mad math minute today and tried to write their numbers as high as they could in three minutes.
We had an extra long show and share today; Brooke, Shylah, Samuel and Aiden all brought meaningful items from home to share with us. After recess we had sound pail for the letter "e," we had eggs, elephants, elegant elks, an envelope, a leg, and a pen. After sound pail, we had a lesson on how to print the letter "p." The Jk's did well printing their upper and lower case "p's" and the Sk's practiced writing their lower case "p's" in their work books.
The students practiced reading after their printing lesson. The Sk's read and coloured books about the colours of fall, and the Jk's read and coloured books about coloured leaves. Today was our first trip to the library, and all the students were able to pick out a book to take home and read. Mrs. Whitworth then read a book to the class, called "Growing Pumpkin Pie."
After lunch we had centre time, where Mrs. Whitworth introduced a new fall math activity. The students had to read the number on the side of each pumpkin and place the matching number of popsicle sticks in each pumpkin.
Have a wonderful evening and enjoy the new books the children will be bringing home tonight.
