A Leafy Fall Day- Happy Thursday!

Good Afternoon Everyone,

My name is Miss Nixon; I am sure that some of you have seen me around the school and in the kindergarten classroom.  I have been working with Mrs. Whitworth in the kindergarten classroom every Wednesday and Thursday for the last month or so.

Today we started the day off with O'Canada and bowed our heads for a moment of silent reflection.  Mr. Playford asked the school about facts and tested the grade 3/4's addition and subtraction math skills.

Leon was our leader today and Karmin took us through calendar this morning.  We continued working with interlocking blocks during math time.  The students created patterns with the blocks and then created the same patterns on paper.  Then afterwards the Sk's practiced designing their names with patterns.

After snack and recess we had show and share; Charlotte and Leon brought interesting items to show us.  During our language lesson we learned a new sound; the sound of Cc/Kk.  We had fun coming up with different words that started with either Cc or Kk.  The children came up with many things such as car, cake, kite, etc.  Maybe you can ask your child what Cc/Kk words they came up with today.

After lunch, Mrs. Whitworth read us two stories; one "Panda bear, Panda bear, what do you see," about animals and the children learned what it means for an animal to be endangered. The other story was a lovely seasonal book called "Fall Leaves, Fall."  After our stories the children had art time, where they turned leaves into different animals of all colours and sizes.

After last recess we followed with music where we sang fall songs about leaves falling down and 5 apples way up high in an apple tree.  We finished the day with centre play and the children enjoyed creating Lego buildings and colouring pages.

Have a Wonderful Evening! Enjoy the fall colours!
~Miss Nixon
