A Lovely Thursday in November!

An Introduction to ADDITION! ((yesterday)

Following the morning assembly we had calendar time and reviewed why we need to learn addition skills.

The children worked quietly at some independent tasks while Ms.Whitehead and I took a few minutes to plan for her block placement next week. I read the story called FALL MIXED UP! We had Show and Share and then discussed the attitude (confidence) and attribute (thinker) for November. Basically we talked about our brains being muscles that need exercise in order to get stronger. Thinking and learning go hand in hand and lead to increased confidence in all that we learn through practice.

Ms. Whitehead spoke to the children about how each one is unique and special.

In Gym we played "Softie-ball Dodgeball"

The day ended with French. The children are continuing to learn vocabulary for family members.

CURRENT UNIT OF INQUIRY: More Than A Feeling!

Central Idea: We can express our feelings/emotions in many different ways.

Today the children were introduced to a program called Kelso's Choices. It is an excellent program about dealing with big and small problems. There is lots of info on the internet and I wish I had learned about it years ago! We watched some scenarios on the web and how Kelso helped the children solve their small problems.
