Skating Day!

We met in the gym this morning ... a small gathering of JK's - Gr. 3's ... for O'Canada and announcements. Mishka was our leader today and did a good job of leading us through the calendar routines. We reviewed time to the hour and half hour using the mini analog clocks. SK's went to the table to add another page to their "My Day" book. JK's did a count and circle skill-sheet.

Following morning recess I read the story called "Tacky in Trouble". In Language Arts we learned the sound made by "Z,z" and the children made stick puppet bees or Zebras.

This afternoon we learned a few new Penguin facts before it was time to pack up and board the bus for skating. We had a GREAT time skating. All brand new skaters are doing awesome!

CURRENT UNIT OF INQUIRY: More Than A Feeling!

Central Idea: We can express our feelings/emotions in many different ways.

Today the children were introduced to a program called Kelso's Choices. It is an excellent program about dealing with big and small problems. There is lots of info on the internet and I wish I had learned about it years ago! We watched some scenarios on the web and how Kelso helped the children solve their small problems.
