Welcome to our first full week of school!!
Please be prepared for your child to be very tired before the week is over! Keeping up with the rigors of school and all of our routines is exhausting! I am so-o-o-o excited over everyone's enthusiasm and excitement about learning so far!
Karmin did an excellent job of leading us through the calendar today.
At Math Time, we practiced printing 1,2,3, and 4 on the white boards. The SK's moved to their table to work on counting and printing larger numbers. The JK's and I worked on printing "1" ... starting at the top and going down! "Number 1 is like a stick, a straight line down, that's very quick!" JK's also matched quantities of 1,2,3 and 4 to the correct numeral.
| Show and Tell time for Aiden! He is very intent on listening to a question! |
In Language Arts I read the story Who Will go to Kindergarten Today? We learned that there are 3 ways to read a book! 1)Look at the pictures and think about what is happening in them; 2) Read the words and 3) Retell the story. I modeled these skills using the above book. This a lead-up to one of our DAILY 5 ... Read to self. Before too long, the Kinders should be able to quietly perform this task in one or two ways giving me the opportunity to read with individual students.
The JK's did some preliminary pencil skills and are learning to print their names. The SK's wrote in their journals completing the sentence "My favourite snack is...." Most of them like ice cream the best!
This afternoon we had some play-dough fun and parctised locomotor skills in the gym. French with Mdme. Villeneuve was the conclusion to the day. Looking forward to another great day tomorrow :)
Enjoy your evening!
