UOI – Right after the lunch recess, we read about Chinese New
Years and how it is traditionally celebrated. Ms. Egan took half of the class
to do some sponge painting / stencil work – for fan-making tomorrow! The other
half of the class coloured the Chinese characters for “happiness” and/or a
picture of children celebrating the New Year! (SWITCH!) When the paints were
all cleaned up we sampled the sticky rice cakes that Ethan had brought in for
us!

Before dismissal, I
handed out a small red envelope to each child (from Ethan) which contains a
lucky coin (chocolate). This is a Chinese tradition in which an “older person” passes
the luck for the New Year on to the young ones! I’m excited to hear tomorrow
about what was actually in the envelopes! Thank you Ethan and family for
helping us to recognize our wonderful diversity!
Have a great evening everyone!
