Welcome to another week at The Maples Academy!
We had Opening Ex., House Point
Collection and a few spontaneous House Games in the gym this morning.
We arrived back in the classroom,
ready for calendar time, at about 9:25. Karmin took over as leader of the day
and did a great job answering my calendar questions!
The Pre-K students left the room and
we had time to practise our speeches before it was snack time. After recess the
JK’s worked on a snowball booklet and the SK’s read number words to twenty and
matched them to the correct number.
We did not have French today so it
gave us a chance to read about Martin Luther King Jr. and to discuss the
unfairness that still existed in the U.S. in the mid 60’s. The children did not
have any difficulty in seeing that the laws then were unjust and some expressed
their happiness that it is not like that now.
Following the lunch recess, I read
the book called The Crayon Box That Talked
We were once again able to talk about
tolerance and acceptance. The final lines in the book say this: “We are a box
of crayons, each one of us unique; But when we get together…the picture is
complete!”
In Gym we practiced throwing balls
into a bucket and rolling balls to knock the bowling pins down.
I read with Gunner and Samuel while
the others had Centres / Free time. Dismissal as usual!
Enjoy your Monday
evening!
