Happy
New Year and welcome back!
We were able to get back into the gym today for our regular Opening Exercises together and House games! (by Mrs. Ruby) Mdme. Villenueve led the
assembly on being enthusiastic and on being risk -takers. She reminded us that
all things begin with the first step! The assembly lasted a bit longer than
usual so we only had time for calendar before it was snack time. Samuel, our
leader today, took us through the calendar routines. Today is day # 74!
Following snack and an indoor recess, we shared the highlights of our
holiday with each other! The pre-K’s left to do alphabet work with Mrs. Wilks
while the JK and SK students made matching pairs of paper mittens. First we
folded the paper, traced one hand, mitten style, and cut out two at a time so
the mitts would both be the same size. Then the children had to place them on
the table so that there would be one for each hand! I was very impressed with
their problem-solving skills! I didn’t have to help anyone figure it out! The pair of mitts had to be decorated alike in order to be a pair! Well done everyone!
In the afternoon we read a book called P. Bear’s New Year’s Party and did some scooter board activities in the gym. Since we were missing a
lot of our students today, I let them settle in with some extra free choice
activity time this afternoon. Hopefully we will have a full group tomorrow and
we can get back into our regular routine.
We try to manipulate the scooter boards when sitting, kneeling or on our tummies. And also work on keeping our fingers out of harm's way!
I hope you had a relaxing and healthy
holiday. Wishing you all the best in 2015!
Have a wonderful evening.
