Opening Exercises and House Points in the gym

Calendar was conducted by Grace. Good job! She determined today was the 48th school day by looking at the 4’s starting all the numbers in the row and at the 8’s at the end of all the numbers in the column! Great thinking skills!

The pre-schoolers went to room 8 with Mrs. Wilks. They made block towers and measured themselves against them using the words taller and shorter!
We learned the sound of “hard G,g” today and also printed lower case “g’. Grace thought it was pretty cool that she was the leader on the day we learned that sound and printed that letter! Following printing, students had the option of making a Goofy Ghost stick puppet.
In Math, both groups did some number printing and some number recall work. I also had the chance to have each student count for me to see how far they could count correctly. I also read them a book called “How much is a Million?” and learned that if you wanted to count from 1 to 1,000,000 it would take you about 23 days!!
I read a story after the noon recess called “The Grumpy Morning” about a farmer who slept in and caused all her animals to wait for their morning meals!
During our UOI time, SK’s matched animal names to the animals and the JK’s looked for more farm pictures. At the same time, Ms L. was doing a really awesome colour experience with each student individually. They made secondary colours by rubbing  2 primary colours together ... that were painted on their hands!  A very cool activity!

Red and blue make purple!

It's slippery!
Thank you Ms. L. for this great experience!

The Grade One/Two class joined us for Drama. We played charades, this time acting out an object rather than an animal or an action. FUN!

Sharing and reading took place somewhere in there and before we knew it, it was home time!

Have a lovely evening!
