Good Afternoon!
Before
O’Canada we had a moment of silence to recognize the tragedy in Ottawa
yesterday. Mr. Playford did not elaborate on any specifics for the sake of the
young students but the rest of us understood.
In the
classroom, Charlotte and Ms. L. took us through calendar time without any “glitches!!”
We counted by 5’s to 35 and noticed that we are getting closer to the #50 that
is already in place. We will be holding a 50’s Party that day – approximately around
Nov.9! More details to follow soon!During phonics time we learned the sound of “short e” and I told a story about Charlotte and her friends visiting Grandpa and Grandma’s farm to help with chores. In the end they helped to collect the eggs and Grandma broke them open on the edge of the pan to cook them for breakfast. The PS students then did an activity with Ms. L identifying the largest and the smallest pumpkin on each page. The JK and SK students worked with me on a mini book called “Old McDonald had a Vowel Farm”.

For
Math, after the lunch recess, we stamped patterns onto adding machine tape.
Students are making great progress in creating patterns! It is much more
difficult than finding one already in existence!
Journal-writing came next, with students using any subject of choice. Free-writing is still challenging at this stage in the year but I am seeing good progress!
