Happy 50th Day of
School!
The 50th day
looked so far away not very long ago and now it has come and gone! Thank you
for supporting your child in collecting 50 things!
We had
our own O’ Canada this morning and the children sang out with gusto! So great
to hear!! We also talked about the moment of reflection and decided to think
about our bus load of Grade 1-8’s and teachers, and silently wished them safety on their
trip to the ROM.
Karmin did a good job
of leading us through calendar. We counted by 1’s. 5’s and 10’s to 50!
We “paraded” our collections down the
hall to show Madame V. and Mrs. Burke who were happy to see what we had
brought! Then we went to the gym where we made lines with each of our items. The children knew before we even
started that Sophia would have the longest line!
The 4 PS children were not as long as Sophia's collection!
Even when Mrs. Wilks joined the line, they still didn't reach the end of those 50 Beanie Babies!
Trying out the "twist"
Experimenting with hula hoops
We practiced hula hoop-ing and the twist and listened to "Twist and Shout" in the gym!The children enjoyed a Rice Krispie treat at morning snack. Our story today was 50 Below Zero by Robert Munsch. They did a great job of filling in the words when I paused in the story!
Following sharing by Seth, Samuel and Gunner I showed the children some pictures of 1950's things and showed them a record I had brought from home - which they thought was a really large CD:) Mrs. Batchelor had provided us with some old hats to look at and memories of my mother wearing such "things" came flooding back! We made rock 'n roll records which you will see on the bulletin board outside the classroom. We had a great day! Have an awesome evening!
Karmin was awesome with the hula hoop!
