Hello Readers
..
We
had a great day! Sarah was our leader and had the goose, with 4 printed on it, placed
on the calendar before I even got everyone into the room! When I asked her how
she knew to use a goose next in the pattern, she said she had looked in my bin
and noticed there weren’t any different animal cutouts, so she figured it was
an ABC pattern! She was right J Super thinking, Sarah!
In
Phonics, we learned the sound of “M,m”. We brainstormed for words that start
with ‘m-m-m-m” and then the students had to draw pictures on a plate of things
that make them say “m-m-m.” SK students had to label their own food and JK’s
could ask for help from me.
Our
story today was called “Pig’s Egg”, which created some interesting discussion!
It was a funny story!
Following
French we looked into our farm animal bin and identified the animals there. We
discovered a few things that did not belong on a farm, like a rhino and a
dinosaur J
In
Math we did some really serious sorting. I dumped collections of things in
front of pairs of students and asked them to sort them in some way! The SK’s
had buttons and did not require very many clues to start to sort by size or
colour or by fancy and plain! The JK’s required a bit more guidance but were
soon sorting by colour! Samuel continued by sorting the triangles out of his
colour groups. Charlotte continued by sorting
out the shapes with fingers vs. those without! Sophia used the coloured
rectangles on the carpet to contain the different colours of geometric tiles! Well
done everyone! This activity took up most of an hour so we had to miss printing
today!
This was near the end of the activity when all of the SK's had combined their buttons to sort by a large variety of colours
Sorting using the carpet to organize the colours
Keep sorting, girls!
"I'll sort the gold ones; you sort the white ones!"
Have a wonderful
evening!
